Update: This post contains products that are NOT cruelty-free and vegan because it was created before I made the switch. The beauty products that are ARE cruelty-free and vegan are: BECCA Highlight/Lowlight Perfecting Palette
September is always one of my favorite times of the year due to the fall fashion and weather changes. I’ve been eager to break out my cozy sweaters and ankle booties, as well as put on some dark lipstick and wear maroon everything. The scenery on my college campus has been absolutely beautiful! I’ve finally gotten into the swing of my classes and just my routine in general. I’ve really been loving my classes this semester and have been having a great time living on my own for the first time in my own house!
September Beauty Favorites
My first beauty favorite for September is the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation. I actually purchased this foundation over the summer and hated it! I have combination skin so it stuck to dry patches on my skin and looked very patchy. I decided to give it another shot this month using my beauty blender and am in love! As long as I make sure to really moisturize my face and use the beauty blender to apply it, this foundation gives me perfect coverage and a matte finish all day long. It isn’t too thick and blends well if applied correctly. I will be buying another tube soon because I am running out!
I also am really loving the Morphe 35 Color Warm palette for fall. The colors are gorgeous and perfect for autumn. I love how there is enough variety in the colors so that no two are overly similar. My favorite thing about this palette by far is the affordability! I can’t believe I only paid 20 dollars for this because I am blown away by the quality. You really get more for your money with the Morphe shadows! I am already tempted to try more of their palettes.
This product was a bit of a splurge, but I don’t have any regrets! I was going to buy Jaclyn Hill’s limited edition highlight with Becca but decided on this because it came with a contour and this highlight worked a little better on my skin tone. This is not a dramatic contour and highlight so it’s perfect for everyday use. The highlight is absolutely gorgeous and the lowlight looks very natural on my face. I was using an orangey Nyx bronzer before so this was quite the upgrade! I would not recommend this product for someone with a darker skin tone because the lowlight just barely shows up on my fair skin.
I’m glad I finally decided to try this mascara because it makes my lashes look amazing! I went from using Better Than Sex mascara to a drugstore brand and actually prefer the drugstore mascara. This mascara has a double-sided wand to reach the roots of your lashes and fan them out. It gives my lashes a thick and long appearance without clumping them together which I love. I have been very picky with mascaras lately and this one has finally met my standards. I have been using the waterproof version and it has been lasting all day without flaking or uncurling my lashes.
Another product I’ve been loving this month has been my planner! I tried to go exclusively online with my calendar but really missed having a paper copy. I have had a stressful amount of work to do lately so this little guy has been a lifesaver. I love this planner because it’s super cute which inspires me to actually use it! I also really like the way the pages are set up. I originally missed having a spiral bound agenda, but I think this one will hold up better in my backpack. I have another post where I explain how I use my planner which you can check out here.
2. Apple Music
I definitely utilized my three month Apple Music trial on my iPhone during the month of September. My trial just ran out a few days ago and I already miss it! It was very convenient to be able to listen to any song on iTunes that I wanted to, whenever I wanted to. I have been using Spotify lately, but it’s just not the same! I might have to give in and purchase a monthly subscription, but it’s a tough decision. If anyone knows of any other free streaming services they use let me know in the comments!
I have been reading the Kindle version of this book and it has really inspired me to be focused on my career. Reading this has truly made me so much more of a go-getter! I would recommend this read to anyone interested in the fashion public relations industry, like myself. It has great advice and will put you in the right mindset to go after your dream job. Some of the tips in this book I have heard before, but most of them have helped me and taught me valuable information. The main reason I love this is because it motivates me to go after internships and has given me the confidence to talk to more people I would never have spoken to before reading it.
Leave a comment below with your favorites for September! I love trying new products so I want to hear your recommendations.
