I can’t believe it is already time for my October favorites! I honestly feel like this semester just started and now it is almost over. A couple days ago I scheduled my last five classes EVER which has me in complete shock. Before I know it I will be graduating and heading off to NYC!
This October has been a truly superb and productive month for me. I’ve been successfully keeping up with blogging and my schoolwork without losing too much sleep. I’m sure most of that can be attributed to my adorable new planning system which I will tell you about in just a minute!
I’ve also made sure to leave time to have fun with friends and enjoy my last year at Ohio University, which means having one of the best Halloweens ever and getting to visit local places I never knew existed.
Check out my October faves below and leave a comment with what you have been up to! I want to know how your October was too. 🙂
West End Cider House
If you are ever in Athens, Ohio I highly recommend you check out the West End Cider House! I love to chill out and grab a drink with friends, but I was getting tired of the same four smelly and tightly-packed college bars that I go to every weekend. This place is a lot nicer and with a slightly older crowd. It is definitely somewhere to just talk and relax unlike a typical college bar.
The best part about it is that their drinks are SO GOOD! They sell all naturally fermented ciders that are local or made on-location. My favorite is the “Zingiber” with fresh lemon and ginger. You do have to be careful because the ciders are around 8% alcohol and don’t taste like it at all! I recently tried cider at another bar and there was absolutely no comparison.

My Fox Halloween Costume
I probably had my favorite Halloween ever this year and a huge part of that was because I loved my costume! If you aren’t familiar with Ohio University, you should know that we are infamous for our crazy Halloween block party. This was my last Halloween in Athens as a student so I made it a point to have an amazing time.
I bought the adorable ears on Etsy from this shop just found a bodysuit from Forever 21 and wore it with tights and over-the-knee boots. Usually, I just buy my costume from a Halloween store and I am never happy with it, so I did something super cute and mostly homemade for a change! I’m so happy with how it turned out.
Heidi Swapp Memory Planner
Okay, so I’ve been kind of obsessed with my planner this October. I’m almost embarrassed to admit that I’ve made planner-decorating a new hobby. I spotted this super cute planner at JoAnn’s and had to buy it, along with a ton of matching stickers and sticky notes. The dates are not marked so I can use it the rest of the year and all throughout 2017!
I did purchase an inexpensive A5 binder online to use with the inserts because the binder rings it comes with are huge and make it super annoying to flip the pages or close the binder. Other than that, I’ve really enjoyed using it and decorating it. I think it definitely keeps me more focused and organized!
Tarte Maracuja Oil
If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been trying out A TON of Tarte products lately. They offer so many vegan-friendly products and I know that they are good quality, so Tarte has been my best friend in transitioning to 100% cruelty-free and vegan beauty. I’ve seen rave reviews about this product on YouTube, so decided to pick up the travel size to test out. My skin has never looked better!
This beauty oil is a miracle worker for dry skin. Usually, I pack on night creams to keep my skin from drying out in the colder months, but this oil has made that unnecessary. At night, I just put a couple drops on my hand after applying my moisturizer and pat it all over my face. When I wake up my skin is baby soft and noticeably clearer and more even!
Petit Vour Beauty Box
A monthly beauty box subscription is something I’ve wanted to try for a while but I could never justify spending $10-$20 a month on mostly samples. Usually, I knew about all of the brands in the boxes like Ipsy and Birchbox already, so I wouldn’t even be discovering that many new products. But after going vegan, I struggled to find vegan-friendly products, especially since there is no Sephora or Ulta anywhere near my college town!
The Petit Vour Beauty Box is a monthly subscription of four cruelty-free and vegan products, which is perfect since most of the makeup I own right now is NOT vegan. All of the products they send are high-end and very good quality. I’ve found that many vegan or natural beauty products aren’t really meant for beauty addicts like me, so a way to discover ethically made products that actually work has been so helpful!
Thanks so much for stopping by and I wish you a lovely November! XOXO, Ciara
